The Michigan Cricket Association reminds everyone that the final of the MichCA indoor tournament will take place tonight in Auburn Hills, spectators are very welcome. MCA’s own Anurag Yerabati is expected to play in the match. Information below (reproduced from the official announcement):

As ever, Motown-MCA practice will be at 6 pm on Thursday, at the Lyon Oaks cricket ground in Wixom. Motown-MCA always welcomes new players – if you are interested in playing for the team, just come to the weekly practice and make yourself known to one of the senior players. Since sister-club M.P.C.C. also practices at Lyon Oaks on Thursday nights, scrimmage matches are sometimes arranged as well as net practice.
On Saturday, Motown-MCA entertain Grand Rapids C. C. at the Lyon Oaks ground. Please make sure to let Motown-MCA captain Sathish Thandapani know of your availability for this match no later than Thursday. Spectators are very welcome (the ground has a comfortable shelter and park grills; a children’s playground, a dog park, and bathrooms with running water are nearby).
All Motown-MCA players are encouraged to attend practice at the Lyon Oaks nets on Thursday, 7 June, beginning at 6.00 pm. Saturday’s fixture is against Toledo, traditionally one of the strongest sides in the Michigan Cricket Association. Players should inform Motown captain Sathish Thandapani of their availability by Friday morning.

It might yet be possible for MCA to participate in the California Cricket Academy U-17 tournament, 15-17 June (MCA has been represented at this tournament every year for the last five years). If you are or your son is eligible to play and available, please let MCA know as soon as possible. A parent coach/manager will be required as neither of MCA’s Joint Head Coaches is available to travel.
MichCA today announced the fixture list for the Great Lakes T-20 Tournament. The Motown-MCA combined team has been drawn in Group D with the Detroit Super Kings, Grand Rapids C.C., Canton C.C., and Novi C. C. The team’s group fixtures were announced as follows: an afternoon match against Grand Rapids in Grand Rapids on Sunday, 29 April; a morning match against Canton at Lyon Oaks on Saturday, 12 May; an afternoon match against the Detroit Super Kings at Canton on Saturday, 19 May; and a morning match against Novi at Lyon Oaks on Saturday, 2 June. The knock-out rounds take place over the second and third weekends of June.
With Motown-MCA now eliminated from the MichCA 40-overs competition, attention turns to the upcoming Great Lakes T20 Tournament (schedule to be announced) and the National Collegiate Cricket Championship (24-25 September). Motown captain Sathish Thandapani is preparing the Motown-MCA roster for the GLT, please let him know of your availability for the tournament. Meanwhile, MCA is finalizing its roster for the NCCC (U-25 players only, as specified in the tournament playing conditions). Please let MCA know of your availability (or otherwise) as soon as possible.
The Junior Instructional League is scheduled for its regular practice session on Friday, 16 September, at Lyon Oaks Park, Wixom, starting at 6 pm, but with the autumn weather now unpredictable, participants are advised to confirm with MCA that practice will indeed take place before heading for Wixom. It is hoped to stage a small tennis-ball tournament for the junior players later in the month — watch this web site for news.
Finally, readers may be interested to note that the Diversity Cup, one of the Midwest’s most significant tournaments, played this year over the Labor Day Weekend, saw a comprehensive victory for Shahid Malik’s powerful World XI, as the tournament summary shows.
