MCA is delighted to remind readers that every Friday until at least mid-September the Academy will run a youth coaching camp at the Lyon Oaks cricket ground in Wixom, beginning at 6 pm. The camp welcomes boys and girls of all ages and levels of cricketing experience (including none). The camp will be supervised by MCA Joint Head Coaches Mr Shyam Mayasandra and Dr Vasanth Krishnaswami, with “hands-on” coaching from members of the Motown C.C. / MCA joint team, currently playing in the Michigan Cricket Association 40-overs competition. It is hoped that the camp will include intramural small-sided matches. All equipment will be provided (although players are welcome to bring their own). The cost of the camp is $150, with checks payable to “Michigan Cricket Academy” (those joining late may pay pro-rated fees). For more information, please contact MCA’s Information Director. For pictures of previous camp sessions, see earlier posts.
Last week’s camp provided participants with fielding practice and work in the nets, while two weeks ago participants had the experience of a small-sided match; three weeks ago it was net practice, games, and drills all designed to develop cricketing skills, and each player received individual coaching (see pictures below). The final weeks of the camp will include a match between a parents and coaches XI and a players’ XI. Watch the MCA web site for more information.
