New Inning Foundation’s USA cricketer of the year (and also junior cricketer of the year), Florida Cricket Academy captain Steven Taylor, scored 189 off 100 balls to lead Florida Cricket Academy to a 292-run victory over the MCA XI at Miramar Regional Park on Saturday. Experience and access to regular winter cricket told again, as, for the second day in a row, the rusty Midwesterners struggled to compete in the Florida Cricket Academy tournament. Two wickets for Rahul Kosgi, two for Arnav Sridher and three for Harshil Vyas provided some comfort to the MCA XI, although most of the bowling figures make for painful reading as FCA posted 384 all out (playing with only ten men) in 39 overs. It might have been different if a couple of edges off Rahul Kosgi, who moved the ball well, had gone to hand early in Taylor’s innings, but it was not to be, and Taylor played a magnificent captain’s innings to overwhelm the MCA XI, supported by 37 from Zachary Sattaur and 75 from Omari Williams. In reply, only Vaibhav Ganesh (24) and Akhil Sridher (12) got into double figures, as the MCA XI struggled to 78 all out in 36 overs. In their third and last match at the tournament, the MCA XI play Atlanta’s Cricket Academy USA on Sunday.
