Tournament News: Thanksgiving and MLK Day Weekend

MCA has been invited to participate in the 2012 Florida Cricket Academy U-19Tournament, after finishing as runners-up this year: “THE CITY OF MIRAMAR AND THE FLORIDA CRICKET ACADEMY PRESENT the 3rd Annual FCA National Youth Cricket Tournament Martin Luther King Weekend January 13, 14 and 15, 2012 Miramar Regional Park, Miramar, Florida MATCHES will be 40 overs in . Cut-off Date will be born on or after Sept. 1992.” Please let the MCA coaches know of your availability for this tournament. Last year, participants had to pay for air travel, ground transportation, and hotel accommodation, but total costs were modest.

Over Thanksgiving Weekend a U-17 tournament is being organized, also in Florida. Vijay Ganji announces: “We are organizing an under-17 cricket tournament in the Ocala area (suburbs of Orlando, FL) over the Thanksgiving break in Nov 25 (Fri), 26 (Sat), and 27 (Sun). It is going to be a 4-team (quadrangular) tournament. We have 2 confirmed teams and we are looking for 2 more team to be part of this tournament. … Players have to take care of their transportation, lodging, boarding, and any other expenses associated with the travel. There may be some expenses related to the ground maintenance (grass cutting, cleaning the club house, cleaning the ground, etc) which might be about $20 per player. Even if a club does not have 11 players for a full team, we can combine two or three associations into one team.” Again, if you are interested in participating, please let the MCA coaches know.

The fate of this year’s national inter-regional U-19 tournament remains unclear, with USACA, the national board, gripped again by a dissent and problems. However, North West Region has volunteered to host a substitute U-19 tournament, also over Thanksgiving Weekend. Watch out for more information.
